Solar technicians trained in Gulu
17 solar technicians in Gulu District were trained in stand-alone solar PV technology to equip them with better practical skills and knowledge in their daily work from the 29th of July to 2nd of August. The training was carried out by CREEC’s solar PV team in partnership with the University of Notre Dame and Bosco Uganda.
Organised in a theory and practical approach, the training focussed on various topics in solar PV that involved basic knowledge, challenges in the technology, end-user perspectives and practical sessions in solar PV. Topics like solar radiation, system components, sizing and challenges of PV systems among others were covered.
Participants trained in measurements on PV panels and batteries, wiring up complete solar home systems and troubleshooting exercises for the practical sessions. Certificates of completion were awarded to trainees upon completion of the training.
