CREEC TRAINS INSTRUCTORS OF TECHNICAL COLLEGES IN BIO ENERGY
Tutors of Engineers during an intense discussion with one of the Engineers
As cookstoves continue to flood the market, the need for technical personnel to understand the protocols to follow while testing different cookstoves also increases. Different tutors from the five Technical Colleges around Uganda on 25th January 2018 visited the centre where they were involved in an elaborated discussion with a number of our engineers in the renewable energy sector. Technical Colleges include: the Uganda Technical College Lira, Uganda Technical College Elgon, Uganda Technical College Bushenyi, Uganda Technical College Kichwamba and the Uganda Technical College Kyema.
The training included:
- Stove testing set up and operation
- Equipment calibration and quality checks
- Fundamentals of stove testing
- Test method validation
- Stove testing practicals
- Data flow and data analysis
- Gas flow and analysis
- Demonstration of pyrolysis and gasification processes
The stove testing centre which has just upgraded its laboratories with state of the art equipment continues to build their capacity to meet the client’s needs. With this capacity, CREEC has also added new tests to:
- List including black carbon testing
- Durability Test
Besides the stove testing activities, the training also included:
- Procedures for making Briquettes and Pellets
- Principles of a rocket stove design
- Demonstration of various cook stoves on the local and international market
- Demonstration of various biomass and biofuels etc…
