CREEC presents a Solar Dryer for Charcoal Briquette drying at the Fifth Annual Conference of the Pan African Competitiveness Forum
From the 2nd to the 6th of December 2013 the Annual Conference of the Pan African Competitiveness Forum took place in Maputo, Mozambique. Clusters which are groups of researchers linking up the private sector and academia work on solutions for problems brought up from the private sector. The objective of the cluster programme is to support the private sector on the one hand and to give the academia a stronger practical orientation on the other hand. CREEC was invited to the conference as a guest to talk about the use of solar energy in industry and agriculture. Fabian Dold from CREEC presented the current project of a Solar Dryer for Charcoal Briquette drying to give the audience a picture of which challenges such projects are facing on the ground. More than 50 participants from Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique, Kenya and Rwanda took part in the conference accommodating various presentations and discussions all around Cluster development.

Please note that I also developped a solar food dryer which can used as solar briquette dryer at AWAMU Biomass Energy Ltd., near the CREEC institute. Please don’t hesitate to contact Mr. Nolbert Muhumuza.
