CREEC CONDUCTS TRAININGS FOR SOLAR TECHNICIANS
Over the years, CREEC has trained over 610 people in different renewable energy programs. However the involvement of women in capacity building programs does not match that of thier male counterpants. This has been even more significant with the technical training. Therefore on August 5th to 9th 2019 CREEC hosted its first Women solar technician training. The subsidised trained attracted a number of four dedicated ladies that embraced both the practical and theoritical sessions. They were trained on how to carry out basic solar installations, maintenance and troubleshooting solar systems.
This structured training will set them apart as professionals who have been trained and prepare them for opportunities in solar installation. After the training, participants were able to size and set up solar systems for different home sizes. CREEC has used solar technician trainings to improve the quality of solar energy installations which encourages the uptake of the solar energy technology.
CREEC also continued to host an even more dynamic training session from 19th to 30th August as approximately 10 technicians were engaged in a solar training that will be assessed by the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT). We shall share more updates on our trainees and how they progressed after their assessment which is scheduled for October 2nd 2019.
