CREEC to install gasifiers for productive use
CREEC acquired three 10 kW gek gasifiers under the Millennium Science Initiative (MSI) – Rural Electrification project implemented by the centre in collaboration with partners: Makerere University and Pamoja Energy Ltd.
Two of these gasifiers are to be installed in off grid areas of Opit village in Gulu District and Ssekanyonyi village in Mityana for farmer groups to ease processing of agricultural produce. The gasifiers will use maize cobs in running the system to generate power that will support maize milling and groundnut grinding machines, and other small businesses. One of the gasifiers is to remain at CREEC offices for study and research purposes.
In addition, Pamoja conducted a three day training of 20 people who are to operate and manage these gasifiers after installation.
