DRC team trained in stove testing
In a move to continuously advance stove and fuel testing procedures for the East-(African) region, CREEC trained a team of four stove enthusiasts from Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in stove testing laboratory procedures from 1st to 12th July.
The training was organised by the RTKC team with support from SNV Congo and it comprised of two SNV renewable energy experts and two professors from the University of Kinshasa. Participants benefited from a knowledge filled and enlightening package that included detailed presentations, interactive sessions and practical sessions about stove testing laboratory procedures.

Some of the topics covered included operation and maintenance of the Portable Emissions Measurement System (PEMS), Water Boiling Test (WBT), Controlled Cooking Test (CCT), Safety test, Data processing and analysis, Laboratory management and Role and sustainability of a Regional Testing and Knowledge Centre. Trainees also acquired hands-on experience in stove testing exercises through practical sessions they participated in like WBT, CCT, preparing fuels and even assembling testing machines like the PEMS and troubleshooting.
They also made visits to some of Uganda’s stove manufacturing factories like Uganda Stove Manufactures Ltd and Awamu stove manufactures Ltd where trainees got an opportunity to share with some of Uganda’s leading manufacturers of improved cookstoves in the country. Participants were awarded certificates of participation at the end of the training.
