The training broadly focused on the basics as well as the modern principles and practical considerations of Rural Electrification especially for the developing economies. CREEC through interventions like renewable energy promotions and exhibitions, solar energy kiosks, solar school clubs, mini grids and has increased access to electricity in off-grid areas. These interventions have helped to power business centres, health centres, schools and households.

The training therefore gave CREEC a learning experience in rural electrification as several learning examples from China’s experience were also shared both in terms of their technical as well as policy evolution over the years. Different standards and policies were also shared as found in the directory. During this course, CREEC also attended the 7th International Hydropower forum in Hangzhou which was also part of the training. The forum attracts a number of international delegates from across the world sharing the trends in the sector. Besides CREEC, another delegate from the Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) attended this forum.
