CREEC AT SCIENCE DAY EXHIBITION AT MAKERERE UNIVERSITY

In an exhibition attended by students, researchers, professors, lectures and other stakeholders, CREEC show cased the possibilities and alternative forms of energy that can lead Uganda to a sustainable future. CREEC exhibited laboratory testing equipment from its two testing labs that carry out quality tests to ensure the efficiency of improved cookstoves and solar products that are put on the market. This was at the SIDA annual planning meeting that was held at the Food Science Conference Hall in Makerere University on 25th April 2016. Emphasis was put on the how these testing services can help to ensure that only quality products are sold on the market and also that manufacturers are given opportunity to improve their products. The event aimed at planning for research, sharing information and learning about developments in the field of research, technologies and innovation.

Alongside other exhibitors, CREEC also showcased alternative cooking fuels that can be utilized by the Ugandan community besides the charcoal which a danger to the environment. Some of the cooking fuels displayed include; maize kobs, coffee husks, feacal sludge pellets, eucalyptus leaves pellets, saw dust, briquettes both carbonized and non-carbonized. Focus was also put on guiding the guests to understand the usage of these fuels, their efficiency and performance as compared to the traditional cooking fuels used in Uganda. Other services provided by CREEC include; consultancy, baseline studies, capacity building programs and project implementation.
